Drugstore Anatomy - album reviews
.

Here's a comp of some Anatomy album reviews.
Have to confess, were not expecting such a great, overwhelmingly positive response - to me, the album is so intimate and small, I almost shake at the thought that other people out there actually listened to it.

But grateful we are, as our advertising budget was zero, and the PR machine was, erm... miss M on twitter - it's great that so many took the trouble and really liked our stuff.
Inevitably, the more reviews you get, you also end up with 2 or 3 who totally don't get it - but even these were OK: one guy complained that the album was too time-demanding for our fast-moving lifestyle, another said he'd fallen asleep by trak 3! - bless'em all.
But, all reviews, good, big, bad or small, should always be taken with a generous pinch of reality salt, and you should only believe the hype by the 2nd bottle of merriment wine.

Album of the week
the soundtrack of a Western movie, where you’re staring long into the night sky, wine and cigarettes at hand.
-----------------------------------------------------

it’s an absolute triumph of talent over adversary from start to finish /it proves that Ms. Monteiro was right to get the band back together for one more go.
-----------------------------------------------------

The odds would have been long that, 18 years after their formation, they would reappear with some of their strongest material.
Drugstore have been both placed at the dreamier end of the indie spectrum and compared with Leonard Cohen. Anatomy shows that there’s more of an overlap there than one might have imagined.

*****
Isabel describes it as "painfully intimate, shamelessly simple, devastatingly sad". I'd agree on all three counts, but also add "heartbreakingly brilliant" to that list.
-----------------------------------------------------

Album of the week.

A bittersweet album that beautifully documents Isabel Monteiro’s life In the rock wilderness.
-----------------------------------------------------

7/10 - Up there with their earlier efforts. It is a more considered, grown up record, with added depth and charm.
-----------------------------------------------------

Anatomy is an uncommon display of fragility: eerie but strangely compelling.
-----------------------------------------------------

****
Anatomy is an album of great intimacy, intensity and honesty.

-----------------------------------------------------

****1/2
A highly respectable return to form which shows that Monteiro's talents for mining the most beautiful sounds out of the darkest of subject matter hasn't deserted her during the lengthy time away.
-----------------------------------------------------

Album of the week
-----------------------------------------------------

3/5 - A long dark night of the soul, with Monteiro’s whiskey-sour so intimate, though you know she’ll be back for more.
-----------------------------------------------------

Monteiro sings beautiful ballads and dives into the highly atmospheric world of "Anatomy,"
-----------------------------------------------------

‘The magic is still here’
-----------------------------------------------------

A must for lovers of delicate nautical intimacy.
-----------------------------------------------------

It's a strong and welcome return to form.
-----------------------------------------------------

Anatomy is a moving and melancholic record infused with heartfelt references to addiction, intoxication, pain, loneliness and redemption. Seek it out.
-----------------------------------------------------

This album sounds exactly like the chic cover promises: cinematic, dark and worn, with a good dose of neo-Western-campfire atmosphere. "Anatomy" is an ideal album for those who celebrate the approaching, gloomy autumn.
-----------------------------------------------------

Anatomy is by far the nicest surprise that has happened to us this year.-----------------------------------------------------

A fine return for a band that were one of the most underrated and greatest bands to come out of the United Kingdom. Just this time give them the love and respect they deserve.
-----------------------------------------------------

8/10

Et en dépit de la qualité du Drugstore première manière, on ne pourra décemment pas s'en plaindre tant le jeu d'ombres et de lumières auquel convie Anatomy séduit.
-----------------------------------------------------

Call it alt.country or hushed confessional pop, call it whatever you want, Anatomy is a brilliant piece of work.
-----------------------------------------------------

The perfectly dangerous combination for lonely and/or broken hearts.
